Employment Situation For Pilots

  Current Situation:  
Fleet plan for summer 25 only just announced. Zero growth. 40 FOs being recruited for S25. 19 command upgrades. Only 81.3% Part Year Part Time contracts being offered. FT in summer, 50% in winter. Joiners now will likely be stuck on these contracts for min 5 years. Only hiring on 737. 787 is just now becoming available to those with 6 years seniority. Long Haul programme has been decimated and 787s are being increasingly applied to Short Haul making commuting difficult. 787s only based at LGW, BHX, MAN. 4/Oct/24
   
  Outlook:  
Company says it wants to grow but is prevented by 737 MAX delays. However no concrete growth plans laid out for UK airline. Aircraft orders are for entire TUI group (5 airlines) and unknown whether they are intended for growth or fleet replacement. There are some planned UK deliveries during S25 but still no airline growth. No further orders have been placed for some time. Company relying heavily on 3rd party wet lease for summers. 787s are aging and no plans for fleet replacement. Company could be abandoning long haul altogether. 737 time to command for new joiners with current attrition rates and modest growth likely 13+ years 4/Oct/24
